Apply for help getting to school (SEND transport)
Apply for help getting to school.
This can include independent travel training, a bus pass, payment for parents to give the lift themselves, a travel escort, or a taxi or specialist transport. It is for children whose nearest school is more than 2 to 3 miles away, or where transport is written into an EHC Plan.
All pupils going to their nearest Calderdale specialist school get help under the same distance rules. If a parent chooses a different school that isn't the nearest suitable one (and it isn't named in an EHC Plan), the Council won't help with transport.
