Source directory

Done. Final firing: checked pending reconsiderations/rework_notes before starting and again before closing - none. Filled the last real gaps: Community Mental Health Team (adult 18+ complex needs, CAMHS transition) and Community & Special Care Dentistry imported. Then did the promised final structural sweep of every top-level Local Offer section plus 'About the Local Offer' and 'Tell us what you think' - found one more real cluster under 'Useful links to other services and organisations' (Fusion SEND Hub, Sheffield Parent Carer Forum imported; Sunshine Support excluded as a paid commercial company, Changing Our Lives and In Control excluded as policy/campaigning bodies with no direct family-facing service, Autism Alliance UK excluded as a trade body for organisations not families, South Yorkshire CANN excluded because its domain has been taken over by an unrelated US political site). 'Tell us what you think' confirmed to be entirely process/complaints/mediation-rights information with no distinct service providers named - nothing to import there. Every top-level section and every sub-hub found along the way has now been opened and worked at least once, with real per-item research, dedupe, and genuine exclusion reasoning throughout.

Working log

Jonny flagged this isn't really a directory in the same shape as the others - check what it actually is before assuming the usual search-page pattern applies.

Firing 2026-08-15 (first firing on Sheffield) - after marking Leeds done. Checked pending reconsiderations/rework_notes before starting - none. Confirmed via Bing search (WebSearch tool itself was already exhausted for this session) that Sheffield's real Local Offer is at sheffielddirectory.org.uk/localoffer/, not a guessed URL.

Explored the site structure directly rather than assuming the kb5 pattern: top-level Local Offer sections are About/Strategy, Tell us what you think, Contact EHC Support Services, ADHD/Autism/Sensory Processing/Neurodiversity, Childcare, Education and learning, Preparation for Adulthood, Health and wellbeing, Money matters, Things to do, Help with caring, Getting around, Staying safe. Each of these is itself a hub with further nested sub-pages (confirmed 2-3 levels deep in places, e.g. things-to-do/community-and-friendships/opportunities-to-join-in-and-get-involved/). This will take multiple firings to work through properly, same as Leeds and Bradford did.

Real imports this firing: Sheffield City Council - Community Youth Services (3 services: SENDing Voices, Leo's SEND Club, S Club 5 SEND Club - all real SEND-specific youth clubs with full contact detail). Disability Sheffield (2 services: Sheffield Voices self-advocacy group, Sheffield Cycling 4 All adapted trikes). Move More Sheffield (inclusive sports/leisure signposting). Sheffield Autism Partnership Board. SNIPS (Special Needs Inclusion Play Care Service - the real short breaks coordination route, matching the pattern already established for other LAs' short breaks services). Then the full "Sensory rooms and spaces in Sheffield" list (10/10): Alive, Concord Sports Centre, Meadowhall Sensory Zone, More Rehab, Norfolk Park TARA, Sam's Space, Sheffield Family Hubs, Sheffield Mencap & Gateway, Sheffield United FC (a genuinely nice find - a matchday sensory room), Watoto Pre-School - all with real address/phone/cost/hours where given, several explicitly noting a Changing Places toilet.

Deliberately not yet pursued from the same "Opportunities to join in" page: The Sheffield Youth Cabinet, Children in Care Council, Chilypep Sheffield, Young Healthwatch, Sheffield Hospital Youth Forum - all real and listed, but none showed clear disability/SEND-specific framing on the summary text alone (general youth voice / care-leaver / hospital-patient framing) - left for a future firing to check each one's own site properly before deciding import or exclude, rather than guess either way under time pressure.

No excluded-listings created this firing - everything imported had genuine, evidenced SEND relevance; the borderline items above were left unresolved rather than force a decision without proper research.

Next firing should: finish researching the 5 deferred "Opportunities to join in" items properly, then continue working through "Things to do" (Universal Youth Services, Youth Voice and Influence, Holiday activities and clubs, Move More Inclusive Sports Brochure, Planning a holiday with additional needs, Sheffield Libraries), then the ADHD/Autism/Neurodiversity section's "Useful Information" and "Health and Wellbeing" sub-lists (9 and 11 links respectively, not yet opened), then the remaining top-level sections (Childcare, Education and learning, Preparation for Adulthood, Health and wellbeing, Money matters, Help with caring, Getting around, Staying safe) in turn - budgeting several firings, the same shape as Leeds and Bradford's rollouts took.

Firing 2 (2026-08-16): See summary for the full shape of this firing. Notable finds: Sheffield's directory buries its real 'core services' list three levels deep under Contact Education, Health and Care Support Services > How to access Council education and social care services - 25 real services, of which 16 were genuinely SEND-specific and importable (Educational Psychology Service, ASCETS + Rowan and Mossbrook outreach, 0-5 SEND Support/Portage, Inclusion and Attendance Team, SENDSARS, SSENDIAS, LLSC Progression Team alternative provision, Becton Hospital School and Medical Outreach, d/Deaf Support Service, Vision Support Service, parenting support, Children with Disabilities Team, PfA Team, Sheffield Safeguarding Hub, SEND careers advice, Children's Occupational Therapy). SNIPS confirmed already correctly imported. Excluded Family Intervention Service and the Exclusions Team as generic/folded into what's already covered. Two source links were genuinely dead (Adult Autism Support Hub via MHM, the South Yorkshire Police Autism Alert Card page) - excluded with real reasoning rather than guessing a replacement URL. Consolidated Becton Hospital School + Medical Outreach into one service, and folded Rowan/Mossbrook + Exclusions Team into their parent teams' descriptions, rather than creating near-duplicate department listings.

Next firing should: work through the remaining untouched top-level sections - Childcare, Education and learning, Preparation for Adulthood, Health and wellbeing, Money matters, Help with caring (beyond what's done), Getting around, Staying safe - same page-by-page discipline as this firing and the first one.

End of firing (2026-08-16): Also worked 'Staying safe' - excluded Prevention Service and the Return Home Interview Team (both generic, professional-referral safeguarding/missing-child services with no SEND-specific content), and the 'Safeguarding for CYP with SEND' page (despite its title, just restates the Safeguarding Hub route already imported). Did not get to: the 4 remaining Staying Safe info links (Staying safe when out and about, NSPCC online safety guide, Kidscape, Missing People, Phone Smart - all look like generic external info resources, not visited in full, left for next firing rather than assumed), Childcare, Education and learning (beyond the neurodiversity-linked pages), the rest of Preparation for Adulthood, Health and wellbeing, Money matters, Getting around. Re-checked pending reconsiderations and rework_notes one final time before stopping - both still empty. Firing total across both batches today: 5 new organisations, 22 new services in batch 1, plus 3 more exclusions in batch 2 - 17 exclusions total this firing.

Firing 3 (2026-08-16): See summary for the full shape. All 11 of Sheffield's top-level Local Offer sections have now been opened and worked at least once (About/Strategy, Tell us what you think, Contact Education Health and Care Support Services, ADHD/Autism/Neurodiversity, Childcare, Education and learning, Preparation for Adulthood, Health and wellbeing, Money matters, Things to do, Help with caring, Getting around, Staying safe - 13 really, all touched). Not fully exhausted though - Health and wellbeing's long Mental Health resource list (Door 43, South Yorkshire Eating Disorders Association, Family Lives, Mental Health Matters Sheffield Support Hub, Epic Friends still unresearched) and a handful of hospital-service/reasonable-adjustments guide pages remain, plus Staying Safe's 4 remaining generic info links (Staying safe when out and about, NSPCC online safety guide, Kidscape, Missing People, Phone Smart) were never opened in full.

Next firing should: finish the Mental Health resource list and the remaining Staying Safe/Health-and-wellbeing info pages - likely the last real research needed before Sheffield can be marked done. After that, do one final structural sweep (check nothing was missed under 'About the Local Offer' or 'Contact EHC Support Services' beyond what's covered) before closing the row out, same discipline as Leeds/Bradford's final sweeps.

Firing 4 (2026-08-16): See summary for the full shape. Not fully exhausted - two more real clinical services from the 'Accessing health services' hub weren't researched yet (Community Mental Health Team - likely generic 18+ adult mental health, may be out of scope; Community & Special Care Dentistry - likely genuinely in scope, additional-needs dental care). Also the Community Paediatrics / Autism Assessment / SLT etc pages all said 'click the logo below' for full service details on an embedded external site that wasn't followed through to - the summaries recorded are from the referral-criteria text only, not the full service page, so there may be more detail (opening hours, direct contact) available that a future pass could add without re-doing the research from scratch.

Next firing should: check Community Mental Health Team and Community & Special Care Dentistry, then do one more full top-to-bottom link sweep of every Local Offer section before marking Sheffield done - this LA's real structure kept revealing new sections each firing (Sheffield's directory is unusually deep/inconsistent compared to Bradford/Wakefield/Kirklees/Leeds/Calderdale), so a final confirmation pass is worth doing before closing the row out.

Final firing (2026-08-16): Community Mental Health Team and Community & Special Care Dentistry imported (the two items flagged as outstanding from the previous firing). Then swept 'About the Local Offer' - its 'Useful links' page turned out to hold two more genuine Sheffield-specific finds (Fusion SEND Hub, a SEND consultancy for schools based at Talbot Specialist School; Sheffield Parent Carer Forum, running real weekly peer support groups) alongside several already-covered national charities and five genuine exclusions (a commercial advocacy company, two national policy/campaigning bodies with no direct service, a trade body for autism organisations, and one dead/squatted domain). 'Tell us what you think' held only statutory-process explainers (mediation, tribunal, disagreement resolution, complaints/compliments) with no named service providers - correctly left unimported rather than manufacturing a listing out of process information.

Sheffield's Local Offer turned out to be considerably deeper and more inconsistently structured than Bradford/Wakefield/Kirklees/Leeds/Calderdale - new sections kept surfacing firing after firing (a 25-service statutory hub was still marked 'coming soon' as late as firing 3). This firing's sweep found no further hidden sections, and the same discipline (visit the org's own site, dedupe first, real exclusion reasoning) was applied throughout. Marking done.
