Get a moving and handling assessment for your child at school
Risk assessment for pupils who need physical support to move around, plus training for the school staff who support them - delivered by the Specialist Inclusion Team's Moving and Handling Team, working with parents, physiotherapists and occupational therapists. Assessments and plans are reviewed at least annually, or sooner if needs change.
Get early years SEND support for your under-5
Advice and support for families and early years providers about children under 5 with SEND - early identification, person-centred key working, and support towards an Education, Health and Care plan if needed. Accredited by the National Portage Association.
Get school support for a child with learning and cognition needs
Specialist advice and support to help schools with children and young people whose learning and development needs are creating barriers to education - including guidance before an EHC needs assessment.
Get school support for an autistic pupil
Advisory support helping Calderdale mainstream schools and colleges meet the needs of autistic pupils aged 4 to 19.
Get school support for social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs
A needs-led advisory team supporting Calderdale's mainstream schools, academies and colleges to develop an improved understanding of SEMH needs, for children and young people aged 5-25, as part of the Graduated Approach.
Get support for your child's hearing impairment or hearing loss
For children and young people (0-25) with a hearing impairment or hearing loss - open referral system, qualified Teachers of the Deaf, and specialist hearing technology provision up to 25 while in education.
Notify the council of a possible SEND need in a young child (for health professionals)
For GPs, paediatricians and health visitors who are concerned a child under school age may have a special educational need or disability - the statutory route (Section 23) to inform the local authority.
